A Beacon of Faith and Learning in the Heart of Montana
Yellowstone Classical Christian Academy is a private Christian school that is located in Joliet, Montana, that will serve Yellowstone, Carbon and Stillwater counties. YCCA distinguishes itself by offering a classical education rooted in a biblical worldview. We will offer Kindergarten-4th grade for the 2025 school year and will add grades yearly until we expand to K-12. YCCA was born out of one woman’s desire to help families find the joy in learning. We understand that there are many families that desire an alternative to public education, and for multiple reasons are unable to homeschool their children. A classical education rooted in a biblical worldview trains children to think for themselves, understand not only the how but the why in what they are learning, and creates lifelong learners.
YCCA was established in May of 2023 with a founding board of four highly committed members. We now have six board members, all monthly contributors. The Academy occupies an historic building that once served as Joliet Christian Church. Beginning in the fall of 2024, 10 homeschool families have gathered at the Academy on Wednesdays for choir classes. In November of 2024, the YCCA choirs sang at the Festival of Trees, a fundraiser for accessible playground equipment for the Joliet Memorial Park hosted by the Joliet Lions Club. Our first event at the Academy was the Joliet Community Christmas Sing, a benefit for the Joliet Food Bank, held on December 1, 2024. The YCCA choirs sang to a packed house at this gathering as well.
YCCA has focused on developing strong ties with the local community. The academy hosted a rummage sale at the building, which brought together students, parents, faculty, and community members. After the sale, the remaining items were given away, and several community support groups were able to fill their lists of families’ needs. For our spaghetti supper held in March, all the food and supplies were purchased at Joliet Foods. These events not only support the academy’s initiatives but also strengthen the bonds within the community.
Wednesday is chapel day at YCCA, and there are 7 area pastors who have committed to taking turns presenting a message at each service. The messages will revolve around the memory verse for the week, along with the hymn of the week. Recitations are a regular occurrence in the classical model (think Little House on the Prairie), and visitors are encouraged to join us!
Yellowstone Classical Christian Academy’s vision is to graduate generations of highly capable Christian young men and women with strong moral character who are primed to excel in their next stage of life and are equipped to shape their community through strong leadership and honoring God in word and deed.
