Founder and President of YCCA, Virginia grew up on a farm in Michigan and attended Michigan State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. She moved to Joliet, Montana, in 1983 to teach music, where she raised and homeschooled her 5 sons. Virginia has more than 50 years of experience providing private music instruction, and along with being President of the Board, Virginia serves on the finance and building committees. She also serves as the Head of School.
Virginia is passionate about providing our children with the very best we can offer them, and believes that “the classical education model is unsurpassed since it teaches children how to think for themselves, and how to express their thoughts with clarity.” She currently resides in Billings and enjoys spending time with and teaching music to her 13 grandchildren. She and her husband Steve attend Emmanuel Baptist Church in Billings.
Lindsey is a fifth-generation Montanan, born and raised in Billings. Her lifelong dream has always been to be a teacher, and she loves working with children. She spent many years counseling at youth camps, teaching Sunday school, and volunteering in classrooms. She graduated from The University of Montana Western after studying Early Childhood Education, where she met her husband, Chaz Hyland. She began her career as the Lead Teacher at a Canvas Early Learning Center before starting a family. A career change for her husband, Chaz, relocated them to Red Lodge and brought them closer to family.
Lindsey has two boys, Zach and Caleb, and two bonus children, London and Sayre. Lindsey understands the importance of teaching kids about God at a young age. She is passionate about teaching Preschool and kindergarten-age students. She loves being creative in ways that will build their Biblical knowledge and foundation through songs, stories, arts and crafts.
Lindsey attends Beartooth Mountain Baptist Church with her family. In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys visiting extended family, baking, reading, and spending time outdoors with her husband and her kids.

John is a new arrival to Montana who grew up in the Kansas City area and studied Classics at Princeton and Brown Universities. He has over 25 years of teaching experience at colleges and universities in the USA, Canada, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, and comes most recently from Arizona after 14 years at a US campus in Dubai. His academic specialties are Latin and Greek as well as the ancient Near East, but he has taught many other periods and genres of history and literature. Long frustrated by the aggressive secularism prevalent in higher education, he is eager to begin work at a Christian school where he can exercise care for the spiritual edification of his students, though mindful of the solemn responsibility as well.
A longtime member of the traditionalist Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, he is looking for a local church home. He is married to Hellen, an artist, iconographer, and theologian whom he met while on fellowship in Greece. He is a dedicated amateur violinist when not pursuing his scholarly interests.
Ashley was raised in Laurel, where she attended school for all 12 years. Her favorite childhood memories almost always include fishing trips with her family. In high school, Ashley worked as a nanny and then earned her CNA license working after school at a nursing home. After high school, she worked as a Veterinary Technician and then a Medical Assistant.
Ashley married her husband, Raynor, in 2022, and together they have been blessed with two little boys, Gideon and Roman. Ashley enjoys being a wife and mother more than anything. She and her family attend Faith Chapel Church in Billings. “My passion has always been people; I strive to connect with the people I meet and make them feel heard and understood. It is my goal to create meaningful, lasting relationships with every student and their parents.”
